Gayle and Kahl chose to have their ceremony on the beach below Culzean castle. A beautiful place. The walk from the car park to the beach involved climbing down 130-odd steps. If I climbed those steps once I must have climbed them a dozen times. This wasn’t just a wedding, it was a full aerobic workout. I’d never been to Croy shore before and I’d recommend it to anyone (anyone without a stair-phobia). How they got the marquee down there doesn’t bear thinking about. I can imagine the process looking like a scene from a Laurel & Hardy film.
Outside weddings are brilliant for ceremony shooting. Loads of lovely natural light and I could wander about to my hearts content without anyone noticing. Then, up the steps again to the castle for some dramatic architectural stuff.
