The start of 2009 has been so busy we have been struggling to keep our blog up-to-date. Every wedding so far this year has been amazing in terms of working with great couples at great venues with great photography results!
In March, Mark was back again at House for an Art Lover in Glasgow for Hazel & David’s wedding. House for an Art Lover is a fab venue both inside and out which is always a bonus in unpredictable Scottish weather. Hazel and David were lucky with the weather though and as you can see from the photos, they were both very photogenic as a couple and Hazel especially just laughed all day!
Hazel and David originally met at a property industry function when they were both in fancy dress. David’s proposal took place when he took Hazel on a skiing trip to the Italian Alps. It was only Hazel’s second time skiing so she spent most of her time on her behind! After falling down a difficult ski run, Hazel’s skis came right off and she was ready for tears. David then chose that moment to propose. Surrounded by the beautiful Italian mountains covered in white snow and looking at the man she loved, she could say nothing but yes!
David & Hazel chose House for an Art Lover because it was close to home in Glasgow. As Hazel said “we fell in love with it the minute we saw it and knew it was the right place – modern yet steeped in tradition. The team there worked with us and made sure everything went like clockwork on the day.”
Hazel wore a beautiful white bridal saree which was tailored and sewn by her mum. Her wedding jewellery came from Tiffany and Boodles.
The couple’s flowers came from Mood Flowers in Anniesland who were recommended by the venue. Hazel told us that they did shop around a bit but as their wedding was the day before Mothers’ Day many florists were not willing to delivery on the day. Moods were more expensive than some of the other florists but the arrangements were really nice so Hazel & David were happy on the day.
David & Hazel did a lot of the wedding organisation and supply themselves. However, the felt the wedding car company were fantastic and would recommend them to anyone – Waterside Cars. Hazel said to us “we were due to leave the venue in an Aston Martin but when we made a comment about my saree getting crushed, Waterside Cars took initiative, got the go ahead from David and arranged to collect us in a big spacious bentley instead.”
Hazel and David saw a few photographers and didn’t click with any of them. Hazel said they all appeared to ‘know best’ and had little different to offer. She told us “We liked Mark. We liked his attitude and his work and having reviewed other wedding albums knew he was what we were looking for. I also liked the fact that he came round to my parents house before the wedding. Our photos were the one of the most important elements of our wedding and our treasure trove for years to come.”
When asked what the best bit of the day was, Hazel said “seeing my parents smile and having our family and friends share our big day.”
The funniest part of the day was Hazel’s brother’s speech. “Very funny and a complete surprise.”
