The Monte Carlo Rally or Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo is one of the most famous motor sport events in the world.  Organised by the Automobile Club de Monaco, the annual pilgrimage to Monte Carlo from various start points all over Europe is all about glamour, human adventure and beautiful cars.  For the 2011 competition, drivers set off from three cities, each of which launches its own stage: Glasgow, Marrakech and Warsaw, with two intermediate starting points, Barcelona and Reims, for very old cars or those with small engine capacities.

The start point was teeming with press; a huge media scrum with a massive crowd of onlookers.  It was certainly different for Mark to have to use his elbows to get space to shoot – that doesn’t happen often at weddings!  The images of the 50 gorgeous cars are now on their way to our Italian press agency contact.

Recently, one of the images from a shoot of their 1920s vintage style dresses, won Mark the title of Fashion Photographer of the Year at the Scottish Master Photographer Awards.  Thought we would just share some of our other favourite images from this photoshoot:

We originally got in touch with Beth when one of our brides, Pamela MacGregor, wore one of Beth’s bridal creations at a wedding Mark shot in Girona, Spain.  Images from this wedding won Mark the Best Complete Wedding Photographer Award at the MPA Scottish Awards in 2009.  Anyway …. a conversation ensued where Beth said ‘I would love if Pamela could model my full collection and Mark could photograph it’.  We happened to know that Pamela planned to be home in Scotland for Christmas so the dream became a reality.

Hat and fascinator creations by Beth Morgan Couture are often worn to high society events and her bridal collection is also stunning.  Some of her designs have been worn to Buckingham Palace, to Royal Ascot and on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Mark insisted that the text was a joke!  Who would he find willing to model their celtic and medieval wedding dresses at 9am on a Sunday morning when Crawford had been reaching temperatures down to -18C for several days?  We replied that Mark was up for anything if David could find a model who was crazy enough …… enter the very brave Karen …..

The morning was so cold that Mark was wearing several pairs of trousers over each other just to avoid frostbite.  Apparently Karen was well wrapped up under the dresses but still, the wind chill would have cut you in two.  However, I think you will agree, the results were worth the sub zero experience and Karen has recovered without any ill effects!

Celtic and Medieval Wedding Dress Photography 01

Lindsay Fleming Couture have decided this year to make it even easier for brides to have a face to face consultation with a designer and to see first hand the dresses, quality of fabric and workmanship. They have arranged the first in a series of visits to Central London where private consultations and fittings can be offered to clients without travel to Scotland. Their first visit will be on 26th, 27th and 28th March 2010 with further visits planned every eight weeks. The gorgeous Lauren Tempany modelled the new creations by Grace Lindsay of Lindsay Fleming and stunning headpieces were created for the shoot by Baba-C Designs.

Ainsley M provided the 20s style make-up – heavy dark eyes and red lips – while Lidia of Volume Hair styled Lauren’s hair to suit the vintage theme.  House for an Art Lover was used as a venue to provide an art deco backdrop.
