What an incredible location …. Eilean Donan Castle. Well, actually, we knew it was breathtaking but had just forgotten how amazing it is – just have a look at these images and imagine getting married here. These images all come from just before the wedding of Hannah and David Bruntnell – more of their actual wedding to come later.

What a location! | Eilean Donan Castle | Scottish Landscape Photography
Wednesday, September 29th, 2010Andrea and Kevin | wedding photography | Ardanaiseig Hotel | Argyll
Wednesday, May 5th, 2010It was quite a journey getting there but it was worth it. With heavy snow on the way, I booked into a B&B and set off a day early for this wedding in December 2009. It took about 7 hours to negotiate the narrow Argyll treacherous snow covered roads to reach Taynuilt. Kevin & Andrea had chosen the Ardanaiseig Hotel near Taynuilt for their winter wedding.
What a setting! Stunning in any weather, this location was simply magical for wedding photography in deep snow.
The weather was perfectly crisp, sunny and the ground was a bed of snow. This location is so beautiful and dramatic that it almost doesn’t seem real. The backdrop for photography at the Ardanaiseig Hotel was so amazing that the ceremony was performed outside despite being a snowy December day.
Andrea and Kevin wanted some dramatic photography which really showed off this most stunning of Scottish settings. Rarely have I been anywhere this spectacular and been quite this lucky with the weather. Another nice aspect of this day was that I got to shoot another Lindsay Fleming celtic dress design. I have provided all the brochure and website photography for both Lindsay Fleming’s Celtic Spirit Collection and All That Jazz collection of 1920s style wedding dresses. It was great to photograph ‘Sabina’ one of their celtic inspired creations live on a wedding day. As an added bonus, Andrea was in the lucky position of being a bride who is also a florist so she provided the gorgeous floral details on the day.
For the newlyweds it was a day never to be forgotten and it must go down as one of my favourite weddings in my career so far. Here are some of our favourites:
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow …….
Monday, January 11th, 2010I’ve been loving the snow this winter. It’s like being a wee boy all over again. Landscapes we pass every day all of a sudden look magical and beautiful. It’s great for sledging, snowmen, snowball fights and photographs. Myself and my son Jack took the sledge to the hill I slid down all those winters ago when I grew up in Biggar. We also wandered the landscapes around Crawford where I used Jack as a measuring stick to test drift depths. This year the snow was exactly Jack-waist high. Here are some of the pictures from our walks (all available as fine art prints).

Two Certificates of Merit in the Master Photography Awards 2009!
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009Mark was delighted this week to receive two Certificates of Merit from his entries into the MPA Master Photography Awards 2009. The two images to be recognised were landscape images this time.
This first image was taken on a family holiday to Morocco at the gorgeous white sands of Essaouira – even more impressive is the fact that Mark took this shot while on the back of a camel!
The second image to be awarded was this shot taken on the Isle of Arran, a little closer to home!
