Our studio has a great location in our opinion. We are based in rural Lanarkshire but can be in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dumfries, Ayr, Stirling, Carlisle etc to photograph weddings, fashion or portraits in no time at all. We get lots of couples who live south of the border booking our wedding photography services as our studio is only 2 minutes from the M74 (the main road most people take to head south or north when planning their wedding) – and as we make great coffee, we are a much nicer stopping off point than the motorway services!
We have another major wedding supplier based within a few miles of us and that is Lindsay Fleming Couture. Their reputation was built originally on their stunning celtic wedding dress designs but they have been receiving huge attention in the last couple of years for their vintage inspired wedding dress designs. They have a range of weddings dresses based on wedding dress designs from the 1920s and the 1950s and as vintage is very much in vogue, they are well worth checking out.
Earlier this year, we did a fashion photography photoshoot of some of their newer 1950s inspired wedding dress designs using the awe inspiring venue, The Dome in Edinburgh (also available as a wedding venue). Hair and makeup was provided by the fabulous Sharon and Monica at Made-up.

The 1920s was the decade in which fashion entered the modern era. Cultural changes after the end of WWI were immense and young women of the roaring twenties began to reject traditional and conservative styles. Fashion in the 1920s became a symbol of everything new and modernistic. More and more brides are opting to wear a vintage style wedding dress in no small part because the styling of bygone years is so flattering of female curves.
Lindsay Fleming Couture have taken the thrilling, care-free period of the twenties as their inspiration for a range of vintage inspired wedding dresses. Mark was asked to photograph some of their 1920s wedding dresses and yesterday a team comprising of Lindsay Fleming, Made-up and Mark all met at the spectacular Dome in Edinburgh.
Sharon and Monica, the team from Made-up did a fantastic job of creating an authentic vintage look for the models. The girls from Made-up are available for weddings and work together to create a beautiful bridal looks.
The Dome is a stunning venue located in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town full of fantastic period features. Available for weddings and civil partnerships, the building is breathtaking on entering with twin staircases, gilded balustrades, marble columns, stained glass windows and a vintage cocktail bar with coffered central dome.

As photographers for the vintage wedding dress collections by Lindsay Fleming Couture, we often have the privileged position of getting to see their new dresses before they are launched to the public. Lindsay Fleming‘s new vintage style wedding dresses are based on 1950s influenced designs; part of their ‘Manhattan’ wedding dress range. The ‘Manhattan’ fifties style collection is influenced by the full circle 1950s dresses worn by the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.
This vintage 1950s dress range is launched by Lindsay Fleming this month. If you are based south of the border, they have London viewing appointments available to book this weekend (5th and 6th of February) by calling Grace or David on 07966 243587. Over the last few years, Mark has done all the commercial photography for Lindsay Fleming Bridal photographing their different dress collections as new creations are revealed. Following on from their very successful 1920s wedding dress collection, they have gone on to launch a new 1950s wedding dress range. The initial sketch designs for this range looked gorgeous (have a look on the fabulous Love My Dress blog) and then yesterday, Mark did a quick preview photoshoot of the first beautiful dress to be made. The dress is called ‘Connie’ and it is made from guipure lace over thai silk, with layers and layers of tuile. The lace can be hand painted to the client wishes. The jacket is made from sandwashed silk crepe. Over the past couple of years, we have loved photographing the extensive wedding dress collection of bridal designers, Lindsay Fleming. Their 1920s vintage inspired collection ‘All That Jazz’ has been receiving lots of publicity lately and Lindsay Fleming have been travelling to London to hold appointments with brides to keep up with the high level of interest in their designs.
Recently, one of the images from a shoot of their 1920s vintage style dresses, won Mark the title of Fashion Photographer of the Year at the Scottish Master Photographer Awards. Thought we would just share some of our other favourite images from this photoshoot:
It was quite a journey getting there but it was worth it. With heavy snow on the way, I booked into a B&B and set off a day early for this wedding in December 2009. It took about 7 hours to negotiate the narrow Argyll treacherous snow covered roads to reach Taynuilt. Kevin & Andrea had chosen the Ardanaiseig Hotel near Taynuilt for their winter wedding.
What a setting! Stunning in any weather, this location was simply magical for wedding photography in deep snow.
The weather was perfectly crisp, sunny and the ground was a bed of snow. This location is so beautiful and dramatic that it almost doesn’t seem real. The backdrop for photography at the Ardanaiseig Hotel was so amazing that the ceremony was performed outside despite being a snowy December day.
Andrea and Kevin wanted some dramatic photography which really showed off this most stunning of Scottish settings. Rarely have I been anywhere this spectacular and been quite this lucky with the weather. Another nice aspect of this day was that I got to shoot another Lindsay Fleming celtic dress design. I have provided all the brochure and website photography for both Lindsay Fleming’s Celtic Spirit Collection and All That Jazz collection of 1920s style wedding dresses. It was great to photograph ‘Sabina’ one of their celtic inspired creations live on a wedding day. As an added bonus, Andrea was in the lucky position of being a bride who is also a florist so she provided the gorgeous floral details on the day.
For the newlyweds it was a day never to be forgotten and it must go down as one of my favourite weddings in my career so far. Here are some of our favourites:
Everything about Sam and Marty’s wedding, from the start, was plain cool – from Sam’s vintage style wedding dress and bespoke fascinator to Marty’s genuine Stetson fedora hat and pocket watch. They were married in the luxury boutique hotel Malmaison Glasgow, a one time Episcopal Church and you can read the full story of their day here.

As you may have read in an earlier post, Archibald Photography were recently asked to photograph the new collection of 20s inspired wedding dresses from Lindsay Fleming Couture called ‘All That Jazz‘. Lindsay Fleming Couture are award winning bridal designers based in Scotland. Each of their vintage gowns are made to measure at their studio in Scotland and for many years clients who could not visit them in person have used their highly successful mail order service.
Lindsay Fleming Couture have decided this year to make it even easier for brides to have a face to face consultation with a designer and to see first hand the dresses, quality of fabric and workmanship. They have arranged the first in a series of visits to Central London where private consultations and fittings can be offered to clients without travel to Scotland. Their first visit will be on 26th, 27th and 28th March 2010 with further visits planned every eight weeks. The venue for these consultations will be Dolphin House Apartments, Chichester Street, Pimlico, London, SW1V 3LX and appointments can be arranged by contacting Lindsay Fleming on 01864 502522 or by email bridal@lindsayfleming.com . We were delighted to hear that Mark has achieved a Gold Award at the SWPP monthly competition for September. The SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) has judging each month in a wide range of categories and each Gold Award winning image goes through to the final end of year judging for the overall award in each category.
Mark’s image has been awarded a Gold in the Fashion category and is from a recent shoot on behalf of Lindsay Fleming. The images were commissioned as promotional images for their new range of 20s inspired dresses.
A Gold Award is deemed to be an “image of the highest standard” and will be published in Professional Imagemaker magazine.
Mark had the honour this week of being commissioned to photograph Lindsay Fleming‘s new collection of 20s inspired wedding dresses; a range called All That Jazz. The dresses are phenomenal and I would imagine they are going to be a big hit with brides looking to add the class of a vintage inspired dress to their day. Lindsay Fleming are award winning Scottish bridal designers traditionally best known for their celtic inspired creations. This new 20s range is an exciting new range to their collection offered both as made to measure and as a mail order service. The gorgeous Lauren Tempany modelled the new creations by Grace Lindsay of Lindsay Fleming and stunning headpieces were created for the shoot by Baba-C Designs.
Ainsley M provided the 20s style make-up – heavy dark eyes and red lips – while Lidia of Volume Hair styled Lauren’s hair to suit the vintage theme. House for an Art Lover was used as a venue to provide an art deco backdrop.
