Scottish Portrait Photographer of the Year 2012 (2)

Scottish Portrait Photographer Of The Year 2012 | British Institute Of Professional Photographers

Last night, Mark and I attended the photographic award finals of the British Institute Of Professional Photographers Scottish Region held at Huntingtower Hotel in Perth.  The BIPP is the major qualifying organisation for professional photographers around the world.

Mark was really stunned and incredibly delighted to be presented with the overall Scottish Portrait Photographer Of The Year 2012 award.  The winning image (above) is a music PR portrait of new up-and-coming band John Wean. Mark undertook a band promotional photoshoot for them after their first single, “Desperate Dan (she told me she was single)” was featured on John Gellatly’s New Music episode. John Wean are four Scottish lads, originally from Uddingston, near Glasgow.

In the wedding award category, Mark was also really pleased to pick up a third place award for this image taken on a destination wedding in Lake Garda, Italy.  Cheryl and Alex were married at Malcesine Castle in Lake Garda and on the wedding day torrential rain (and hailstones) led to the dramatic skies you see in this image.  A  fantastic backdrop for Cheryl’s gorgeous Ian Stuart gown.
