Hello, I’m Mark and thank you for taking a look through my photographs. Hopefully you’ve reached this page thinking you’d like to know a wee bit more about me before booking me to take some wonderful photographs for you! Ok…with that in mind here are some quick fire things things that might help you get to know me a bit better…
…I live in a place called Crawford with my partner Donna, two kids Jack and Hannah, two cats Donald and Jean and five fish who’s names I don’t know although Hannah does. I’m pretty sure the longest surviving one of them is called Bob. Crawford lies about half way between Glasgow and Edinburgh and is pretty close to the highest village in Scotland meaning the kids usually enjoy a few days off school every year with roads blocked from snow. I grew up in Biggar and my kids go to the same school I did. Luckily there are none of my old teachers left to tell them about me!
…I’ve lived in quite a few places in my time including Glasgow, Edinburgh and then, less exotically, Sydney, Tokyo and New York. Once I’d finished my degree in Geography at Strathclyde University in Glasgow I became obsessed with travel and spent a few years working in and visiting far flung places. This is where my love of people, different cultures and photography comes from.
…Back in Glasgow I went back to college to study photography for two years and in 2003 Donna and I started Archibald Photography. As if that wasn’t enough of a challenge, we started our family at the same time!
…I now travel all over the country shooting weddings, portraits, bands and images for advertising. I’m really, really lucky and feel privileged to be able to do something I love as a job.
…I’ve photographed almost 800 weddings all over Scotland and her beautiful islands. I’ve also photographed weddings in Ireland, Italy, Spain, France and England which is enormous fun.
…My music photography has appeared on album covers, billboards, posters, magazines etc. Music is a huge part of my life and artists are some of my favourite subjects.
…Portraits are a huge part of what I love to do and I enjoy capturing people in a really natural way…no babies in plant pots thank you! I’m more interested in bringing out the true personality of a person than asking them to pose.
Please get in touch to discuss your photography plans and ideas. It would be great to work together. Thanks for reading!!!
