Julie and Mike were married earlier this year and booked Mark as their Auchen Castle wedding photographer. They planned to have an outdoor wedding ceremony if weather had permitted – anyone living in Scotland knows only too well what a wet summer we have had! Although the actual wedding ceremony was moved inside Auchen Castle to avoid the rain, it was important to Julie and Mike to get outdoors under brollies for some shots with nature and architecture. Mark shoots many weddings in the rain in Scotland and if the couple are up for embracing adverse weather conditions then so is he! It’s all part of the story.
With around 20 wedding guests and a couple of kids, it was an intimate and personal wedding ceremony for Julie and Mike. Juliet Wilson of the Humanist Society of Scotland was their celebrant with an impressive ring delivery by a barn owl. Caricature portraits of guests produced by Neil K Kempsell went down a storm and provided great hilarity at the wedding reception while the beautiful sounds of the Allestri Ensemble provided atmospheric background music.
Julie’s gorgeous lace wedding dress was sourced from The Bridal Boutique in Peterculter with flowers from Blooms in Dumfries. Unique personalised place cards and stationery was from RSVP Candy. With a smaller number of guests, Julie decided that a large wedding cake would be too much. She opted instead for a mini top tier with individual cup cakes from Romeo and Juliet Cakes.
Maybe it’s just as well their wedding day was wet. Mike has already moved out to Doha for a new job and Julie will be joining him later this year and we doubt they will see much rain there (lucky things!).
