Make Your Way CAVLP

What Can We See? Where Can We Go?

Join the Make Your Way team on a walk with a difference. A walk with periscopes!!!!

Throughout the Clyde and Avon Valley there are notable viewpoints that allow people to see the expanse of the valley and its waterways, but often in more urban areas these views and experiences are lost, out of sight and often out of mind.

Join the Make Your Way team on a walk with a difference. The What Can We See? Where Can We Go? guided walk uses a series of Periscope Headdress where participants will work together to guide each other on a walk through Glassford & Carluke with the aim of reconnecting people with their wider landscape, framing views, focusing on details often dismissed on a daily basis.

The Glassford walk will take place on Saturday 10th December, 11am, meeting at Glassford Hall, before heading out for approximately 90 minutes, it is FREE to attend and all are welcome.

The Carluke walk will take place on Saturday 17th December, 11am, meeting at Market Square, next to the War Memorial, before heading out for approximately 90 minutes.

Don’t be alarmed by the thought of a 90 minute walk, as we will spend a lot of the time looking, taking photos, and chatting about the things we see enroute. Please bring a camera or phone camera along if you can, so that we can capture what it is you are viewing.

The photographs below are from the What can we see? Where can we go? walk through Lanark. The periscopes are a wonderful and really interesting way of focussing on views we may normally miss.

You are welcome to turn up on the day, but it is always useful to get an idea of numbers in advance. Get in touch with the Make Your Way team: MYW@icecreamarchitecture.com / Michael (07843145128) if you would like to come along.

Make Your Way is a new project encouraging local people to walk and cycle more whilst exploring the rich heritage of their local area. The project is focussed on the communities of Larkhall, Lanark, Carluke, Stonehouse and Glassford, and includes multiple ways for people to get involved, including activities like Dorodango mud ball challenges, walks with periscopes, art workshops, creative place name activities and creating new art installations to mark certain walking routes.

If you would like to get involved in any of the events, or have information you would like to share about your area then get in touch with the Make Your Way team via myw@icecreamarchitecture.com

You can keep up to date with the project via the Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership website www.clydeandavonvalley.org/make-your-way, on Twitter @ClydeAvonValley or on Facebook @ClydeandAvonValley and by using #MakeYourWay
