There is not much better in life than being a destination wedding photographer. I mean, being a photographer in Scotland is pretty fantastic too but being able to shoot weddings somewhere totally different now and then is really inspiring.Often, the light for weddings abroad is just amazing.
Cheryl and Alex live in Scotland and are very much in love with each other. Cheryl is not good at making decisions! The task of choosing a wedding location was a nigh on impossible for her. They visited numerous Scottish wedding locations and quite a few destinations abroad. Alex was beginning to think Cheryl would never find somewhere she would settle on!
Then they visited Lake Garda and fell in love with Malcesine Castle, just as we did when we arrived to photograph the event.
So, off they went with their best friends, family including daughter Evie and Cheryl’s gorgeous Ian Stuart dress. The scene was well and truly set for a sunny, summer wedding…except the weather didn’t exactly play ball! The heat of the day was broken a few minutes after the ceremony by an hour of intense hailstones the size of beach balls (ok, I’m exaggerating slightly…maybe golf balls) and heavy rain. Check out the image of the rain pouring down the steps.
I think the weather helped make these photographs really special, as so often happens. Afterwards the sun returned, the party rolled on and this was one of the greatest weddings I have ever had the pleasure to photograph.
Thank you guys for allowing us to be a part of such an incredibly memorable day. x
