Alice and Takaaki were married in Tokyo and decided to travel to Scotland for their honeymoon and to renew their wedding vows. Scotland was chosen based on Takaaki’s love of Scottish malt whisky and Mark was selected as their Glenapp Castle photographer. Glenapp Castle is a breathtaking wedding venue set in acre upon acre of woodland in a secret nook of Ayrshire. Alice and Takaaki renewed their wedding vows in the gardens of the castle before heading off to Islay the following day to enjoy a few of Scotland’s peatier single malts.
Tokyo is very important to Mark as he spent a year living in Japan. There is a certain serenity about Japanese people that makes you feel totally at peace.
Alice and Takaaki had contacted us to say they were not comfortable in front of a camera and were therefore looking for a relaxed style of wedding photography. Since there were no wedding guests, Mark, Takaaki and Alice were able to explore the grounds of Glenapp Castle with no time constraints. Takaaki and Mark share a favourite area in Tokyo (Shimokitazawa) and luckily Alice and Takaaki’s perfect English was far better than Mark’s attempts to remember Japanese (and believe me, he did try!).
Here are some of our favourite images from their wedding vows renewal ceremony at Glenapp Castle.
