David and Lindsay met in 2005 when Lindsay was a bridesmaid for a friend at school. Lindsay’s friend Fiona thought they were a match made in heaven and introduced them at the evening reception and secretly passed Lindsay’s telephone number onto David. Fiona joked at the time that she would get a wedding out of her wedding and she was correct!
David proposed in August 2009 at Bains Kloof in South Africa. Bains Kloof Pass was built in 1853 by a Scotsman with no engineering training at all (Andrew Geddes Bain – hence the name). David chose this location because of the Scottish-South African link. The proposal nearly didn’t happen because Lindsay started hyperventilating whilst climbing there Kloof on all fours due to her fear of heights and the lack of a footpath! David’s parents were waiting at the bottom knowing the plan willing her to make it to the top.
The couple chose The Barony in Glasgow (part of the University of Strathclyde) for their wedding ceremony and reception. The petite Lindsay looked gorgeous in her simple but classically stylish dress from June Brides and David and his colleagues looked very smooth in their RAF uniforms.
We loved working with Lindsay and David – what a laugh we had with them. They made us feel part of their family. At the end of the evening, three singing waiters burst into song whilst dessert was being served as a surprise to their guests. Lindsay’s Mum was so worried that the guests might not join in that she participated with gusto – she needn’t have worried, the guests all loved the surprise.
Lindsay and David’s suppliers of note were as follows:
Dress and veil by June Brides
Shoes by Westend Wedding Boutique
Make up by Ainsley M – Lindsay said “Mark recommended her to me and I’m glad he did, she is amazing”
Flowers by Floral Haven
Videography by Busby Video
Music by Roadhouse – Lindsay said “they got one of the children at my wedding up on stage playing with an inflatable guitar as if he were a rockstar so they are definitely my choice if you want a band that know how to create a fun atmosphere!”
Cars by Waterside Weddings
Ice cream cart with evening buffet by Thorntonhall Farmhouse Ice Cream – according to Lindsay, it is “the best ice cream you will ever taste in your life – if you ever get the chance you must try it!”
Lindsay also told us that “the other people that truly stood out for me (apart from my photographer of course!) were the staff at The Barony. Purely because of their exceptional service.”
