We cycled and walked everywhere on North Uist. The car engine turned off when we arrived on the island and turned back on again when we left. The car was on holiday too. This is an island which rewards the wanderer. The beaches are long, the air is pure, the lochs are plentiful and we were the only people for miles around (apart from Pobull Fhinn (Finn’s People) standing stones).
