The world is full of places i’ve always meant to visit one day. When travelling runs through your veins that’s how it seems. Rome was one of those places.
When you read so much about a place and its history it can be easy to imagine you know it already. However, I was unprepared for the emotive experience of walking round a corner and seeing the vast scale and incredible preservation of the Colosseum and Senate. It is actually very simple to ignore the touristy aspects surrounding the monuments and immerse yourself in the imagination of the sights and sounds of the life of a gladiator or privileged Roman citizen.
I used only my Olympus Pen for the entire trip and concentrated on the architecture, shapes and shadows in the urban landscape.
