Sirmione Lake Garda Italy | Travel Photography | Olympus Pen

We travelled to Italy twice in 2011. In May we photographed the incredible wedding of Cheryl & Alex in Malcesine and afterwards stayed on for a few sneaky travel photography days around Lake Garda. For centuries this was the play resort of the rich and famous in Italian society. We thought we’d have a play there as well.

Sirmione stands on a thin spit of land projecting into the lake. It is dominated by the 13th century castle and, of course, the beaches. It was scorchingly hot when we were there. Thank goodness we found ice cream, cold beer and…er…giant lemons.

I like to keep my equipment as simple as possible, especially when it is hot, so I used my trusty Olympus Pen. My favourite shot is probably the swan in the shadows but I just couldn’t get over the size of those lemons!!!
