Marianne and Gordon looked at over twenty wedding venues in both the USA and in Scotland but fell in love with Turnberry Resort for both its breathtaking views and its beautiful resort property. They booked us as their wedding photographers having seen previous examples of our Turnberry wedding photography.
The couple attended the same business school together in Boston but the first time they actually met was on a school ski trip in Mont Tremblant, Canada. Gordon proposed on November 5th, 2010 on their roofdeck in NYC. Gordon told Marianne that he was having drinks with friends from Singapore on the roof and to meet them up there when she got home from work. When Marianne got up there, it was just him, candles, a ring and some champagne.
Marianne bought her wedding dress in New York at a small boutique called Wedding Atelier; designed by Alvina Valenta. Marianne initially thought she wanted an all lace dress, but when she tried this dress on it was just so beautiful and whimsical that it made her throw her initial ‘vision’ out the window.
Shoes were from Something Bleu, the hair pieces were custom made, as was the veil. All other jewellery (earrings, bracelet, wedding ring and bands) were from Tiffany & Co. Hair and makeup was provided by the Turnberry Spa.
The idea behind their wedding was all about trying to take the best bits of Scottish weddings and American weddings and make an event that showcased the best of both cultures (while making sure everyone had an amazing time!). Around 85% of the guests weren’t from Scotland and most had never been before, so Marianne and Gordon wanted to show them a fabulous time.
