Chloe + Graham | Wedding at St Salvator’s Chapel in St Andrews

We photographed Chloe and Graham’s wedding at St Salvator’s Chapel in St Andrews in July 2011. ¬†We got on brilliantly with Chloe and Graham and in the meetings before their wedding and probably spent as much time chatting about our love of books as we did photography. I’ve always thought it is really important to get to know a bit about our couples before photographing them. That way we can get a better understanding of how they will be comfortable being photographed. It makes the whole experience more personal for both photographer and subject. We have met so many nice people doing what we do.

I first met Chloe and Graham at another wedding I was photographing. We find we book a lot of weddings in this way. People have had a chance to see how you work on the day and get to see the results afterwards. They chose to get hitched in St Salvator’s chapel in the University of St Andrews. This was a location I was really familiar with and I absolutely love its architecture.

Cool couple…

Fantastic location…

and then, as luck would have it, wonderful weather.

After the ceremony we jumped in a car and drove to St Andrews beach for a 15 minute walk along the shore. I love this really relaxed style of wedding photography with no pomp or circumstance and it really suited Chloe and Graham to catch a little time to themselves before the party ahead. Back at the chapel we grabbed another 5 minutes to make good use of the architecture to capture some beautiful art shots of the wedding couple.

As with all good weddings it went so quickly…but not so quickly that I couldn’t play a bit of football with Graham and his entourage in the University quadrangle. Having got to know them well I wasn’t really surprised to see Chloe join in. She really has a mean shot even with heels on.

I had a ball (pun intended). I just wish we could do it all again…
